Dandelion Meets Denim

#AtoZChallenge – Flash fiction based on life’s philosophy or mood or emotions, interpreted using colours.

Crack.

“Oh teri, Babloo!” Squinting against the sun, Sanaa’s gaze followed the ball’s flight across the park as it smashed the window pane before disappearing inside the big house.

“Oh, no!” Riya, the wicket-keeper, thumped her head, standing behind the stacked up bricks.

“My ball!” Yash let out a loud wail and began to cry.

“Keep quiet.” Ishaan smacked his younger brother’s head and Yash bawled louder, wiping the tears on his sleeves.

“Whose house is that?”

“The family is a khadoos, didi. They’ll never give the ball back,” Babloo said.

Yash shrieked again and ran to his house, crying for his mother.

The short story is now available in the collection ‘Heart & Hots‘.
