Short Story :: Temptations

Note: This story was written for Femina Fast Fiction.

She watched Abhishek sit in the taxi from their fourth floor living room window. He looked up and waved at her, she lifted her hand in farewell and smiled, a smile which didn’t reach her eyes. Abhishek, her husband of two years, worked in merchant navy and had left for another three months stint and had yet again refused her desire to start a family. He wanted to be rich and settled before taking additional responsibilities.

It had started to drizzle. She looked at the fading sun in the horizon and shuddered at the falling dusk. Her days were filled with her baking business, operated from home, but nights always brought gloom and depression when Abhishek was not around. She sighed and turned from the window.
